Hello ! Can we discuss that its already the middle of January ? We'll be seeing Valentines day posts before we know it... ok no hate there because I LOVE valentines day... but I wont get ahead of myself. I am back with another plaid post! I've been loving a good winter plaid lately, Especially in colours that are a bit harder to find, like this plaid skirt from Romwe. It is the Plaid Pleated zip up side skirt (Link here), I love the grey and orange colour combination because its so unique compared to what I already own/what I find in stores. I paired the skirt with an orange cardigan from H&M which pulls the orange shade on the skirt, under the cardigan I just wore a simple white turtleneck from Le Chateau to keep me a little bit warmer. For my coat I introduced another colour but still kept it neutral with this camel toned coat. Of course since its winter I had to wear some form of tights so to keep the tones light I opted for some white tights which helps pull the white tons on the skirt. I hope you guys like this look, let me know your thoughts on this plaid skirt in the comments below.
Plaid is always such a staple for the fall/winter months. But I feel as tho it starts to get forgotten once the holidays are over. I've personally been loving this style of overalls since the start of the fall (Some might not qualify these as overalls but what else would you call them... pants with straps?) This particular pair is from Romwe and it is the Plaid tapered pant with strap love the blue and beige tones because its not as stereotypical, Usually when you see plaid its in red, blue and green colour combinations. I paired the look with a simple cream turtleneck from Le Chateau and layered a navy blue coat overtop, you've seen me wear this coat a million times on this blog but its from H&M. You can never go wrong with a navy blue coat with gold buttons. To finish off the look I put on this navy blue beret that has sol silver beading going across the front which I think adds such a interesting detail to the outfit.
As I mentioned in one of my first posts of the year, I'm really interested in experimenting with vintage styles and clothing. I've always looked to the past to get my outfit inspiration but I am trying to find ways to wear these styles without it looking like a costume. I wore this 1920's inspired look to brunch and I thought it was the perfect mix of modern pieces and vintage design. I wore this cream blouse that has an art deco print on it, which we all know was all the rage in the roaring 20's. For the skirt I just wore a simple pleated black skirt, which were very popular at the time. My skirt is not as long as they would've traditionally worn it in the 20's but elements like this is what prevents the look from looking like a costume, just something to keep in mind. As for my coat I decided to go for a more fitted streamline coat which isn't as typical for the time, in the 1920's they wore a more oversized fit but streamline coats were the main silhouette . To give the coat a more 1920's look I added this (Faux) fur scarf over the coat (Yes believe it or not the fur and the coat did not come as a set lol I got them at two different stores.) As for shoes I wore these T-strap mary janes which were typical of the time. And of course no 1920's look would be complete without a cloche hat and a long pearl necklace so of course I had to add those in as well. I hope you like this look, let me know if you would be interested in seeing some more vintage inspired posts like this one!
First outfit post of 2018, I'm so excited for the year ahead and all the outfits I already have in mind! This past year I experimented a little bit with vintage inspired clothing and you guys really seemed to like it ! That is something I want to carry forward this year and see how I can mix vintage pieces with modern ones. With that in mind I thought i would kick the year off with this 1970's inspired look, I got this dress from Shein and it is the Bow and rhinestone embellished neck lantern sleeve dress. I am obsessed with the colourful print and flowy silhouette. But I think what really makes this dress special is the embellished bow on the collar, its such a feminine detail. I paired the dress with this plain red coat from Zara which perfectly pulls the colours together. As for shoes I of course to wear my white go go boots, that are seriously the most comfortable pair of shoes I own ! To top the look off I added these hoop like pearl earrings from Aldo! Let me know your thoughts on this "Retro" look in the comments below!
