Dry shampoo has become a must have in every girls beauty cabinet, I will even go as far as saying its probably everyones most used hair product. I know at least for me its the product I grab the most and I don't know how I survived my teen years without it (Actually I know how... baby powder lol ) I thought I would test out some dry shampoos to see which one was the best. Seeing as I am constantly buying dry shampoo I decided to test out drugstore dry shampoos because they are much more affordable!
Batiste Dry Shampoo
Starting out with my favourite dry shampoo Batiste, its probably the dry shampoo you've heard of the most and has become a sort of cult favourite. I think it does an amazing job and makes my hair look fresh while still feeling touch-ably soft. My only issue with batiste dry shampoo is the scents I find them to be too strong and artificial thus I start associating the scents with 3 day old hair lol. One of the other downsides is that it does have a white residue to it and I find that I really have to work to sink it into my hair but eventually it does. Aside from that I think its a great product and at an amazing price, it ranged from $6-$9 depending on where you buy it from. This is the dry shampoo I have been using for years and am currently using.
Klorane Dry Shampoo
I recently reviewed french beauty products on my youtube channel (
link here.) One of those products was this dry shampoo by the french brand Klorane. I LOVE this product and I think it works really well but if I am being honest its probably on the same level as other dry shampoos on this list on efficiency. What does make this product stand out is the scent ! The scent feels more luxurious and clean out all of the other dry shampoos on this list. something to keep in mind is that the dry shampoos scent normally doesn't linger so its up to you if you want to spend the extra money just to have that extra "feature". I bought this dry shampoo at the drugstore for $18 but I have seen it online at a much higher price (which is shocking) so maybe check your local drugstore first.
Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo
I really wanted to like this dry shampoo mainly because I have used the shampoo and condition from this same scent for years. But it just... wasn't...good lol It didn't really do anything in my hair, it looked the same after using it. I could also feel that there was product in my hair which I hate. I thought maybe the scent would be its saving grace...but no it doesn't smell like the scent of the shampoo it smells like unscented hair aerosol products mixed with alcohol and a bit of baby powder (Not the best) It also probably leaves the most white residue on brown hair out of all the other dry shampoos on this list. This was a really affordable dry shampoo it was around $5.. but I wouldn't recommend it.
Marc Anthony Invisible Dry Shampoo
This dry shampoo is my second favourite on the list, its a little closer to the $10 price point which is really reasonable for a good drugstore dry shampoo. I do like the coconut smell its very fresh and reminds me of being on vacation (always a plus) . I do like that it barely has any white residue on the hair, which if you are a brunette you will think is awesome ! I think it does a great job when it is initially applied but I dont think that it holds up very well throughout the day and I end up having to re-apply. If you have no issued doing that then I definitely recommend this product!
Marc Anthony clear dry Shampoo
Another Marc Anthony dry shampoo, this one was a bit disappointing especially compared to the one previously mentioned. This is again in the $10 price range which is great! And I do love that it goes on clear I think more dry shampoos should do that because it sucks when you get a white cast all over your hair (Sigh) but overall it didn't do much to my hair and I could feel the texture that the dry shampoo left behind, and I'm not into that. I say if you are going to buy a Marc Anthony dry shampoo go with the coconut one.
Garnier Fructis Dry Shampoo
Ending the list off with my least favourite dry shampoo. This did nothing for me, if anything it made my hair looks worse and a little sticky. It does have a fresh melon-y sort of smell which I appreciate but thats probably its only redeeming quality. My hair has never reacted well to Garnier products so I am not surprised that this didn't work well for me but if Garnier products work well on your hair it might be worth giving it a try.
Those are my reviews on some popular drugstore Dry shampoos let me know if you've tried one of these products or which dry shampoo is your favourite !
