Toronto Vintage Clothing Show Shopping Wish List

The Toronto Vintage Clothing Show is less than a week away! And I've been looking at inspiration and creating a list of the types of things I want to buy!  Although I always go to the show with an open mind Its always smart to have a general idea of the style you are shopping for.

THE DECADES: 1930s AND 1940s

My main decades of interest are 1930s and 1940s. I'm crossing my fingers that there are more of these pieces at the fall show. It seems like as the years go by there are less and less of these pieces. I love the 1930s and 1940s because the styles are so elegant and feminine. And I also find them really flattering for my body type/shape.

THE COLOURS
This is the colour palette that I am searching for.. and I know what you are thinking.... these look more like spring colours. And yes they are! I've been obsessed with these tones and how they compliment my skin tone all year. If you remember these are the same colours that were on my spring TVCS shopping list. so I guess not much has changed.

1930s AND 1940s SKIRTS

Skirts are something I desperately need! I've been on the hunt for some plain coloured 1930s and 1940s skirts that I can mix and match with numerous things. Especially for day to day outfits.

1930s AND 1940s KNITWEAR

Knitwear from the 1930s and 1940s is unmatched! They have gorgeous details and patterns. This is probably the most ambitious things on my wishlist because they are hard to come by. But I'm crossing my fingers that someone has some small knitwear they are willing to part ways with. I am interested in knit dresses, skirts, tops, matching sets. Anything really.

1930s AND 1940s COATS

This is another item on the list that I am in desperate need of! I would like a small collection of 1930s and 1940s coats that I can wear with all of my outfits. Ideally in a brown, dark green, sage, burgundy, grey or navy. No black !  I feel like I should be banned from buying anything black!

1930s TILT HATS- FELT

I have been obsessed with 1930s tilt hats since last year! I managed to find a few but I would love to add some more to my collection since they are my most worn pieces. I would love to find some in a fun colour but also in grey and blue since I feel like those are the tones I would wear the most often (aside from brown which I already own)

1940s HALO AND HEART HAT

Halo hats are definitely the most flattering for my face shape!  They are perfect for all seasons depending on the colour and material. I would love to find one in a tan/light brown colour or in any fun unexpected tone so that I can use it as a pop of colour. I've searched for a heart shaped hat for years and have yet to find one so maybe this is the season I find one!

1930s AND 1940s LEATHER CLUTCH

This is the most specific items on my wishlist. I've never really been into leather clutchs but I've been watching a lot of 1930s movies lately and they always seem to appear on screen .... so naturally I fell in love with how they look. I would want it to have some form of interesting detail or pattern.... and of course be big enough to fit me phone.... modern person problems.

Whether you are going to the Toronto Vintage Clothing Show or not I would love to know what is on your vintage shopping wishlist this season!
If you are attending the show don't forget that its one Saturday September 28th and Sunday September 29th at the Queen Elizabeth Building at Exhibition !  See you there !

Ending The Summer With A Polo Match

Ok I know I said the CNE is the unofficial end of summer but the warm weather has been hanging on and I'm so glad it has ! I went to a polo match on Saturday and the weather was perfect ! Honestly it was the perfect day. Except for the fact that I had a wardrobe malfunction right before leaving and had to change last minute ! You'll have to watch my youtube video to see my - beautiful - original outfit. I switched outfits to this 1940s pink skirt set. As I was running out the door I grabbed this 1940s hat that I thrifted the day before (I know I couldn't believe it either !) The pink and maroon  paired perfectly together because they are in the same colour family. I also grabbed my round 1930s inspired sunglasses, that I think really help complete the look.  Let me know what you guys think of this look below !  As well as make sure to watch my vlog below!

Lips Worth Fighting For, BĂ©same Victory Red

I have been wanting to try Victory Red by BĂ©same for YEARS. To be honest I'm not sure what was holding me back from buying it... but as soon as I saw that they were releasing a special edition boxed set with a replica Victory pin I knew I HAD to order it !  I pre-ordered it as soon as it was announced and waited for it to arrive in the mail.

The shade Victory Red  is a replica from a lipstick from 1941 that was specifically designed for women in uniform. It was also encouraged that women in the home front wear lipstick to boost morale. It was seen as "beauty as duty". I love this part of history so I wanted to film a small video referencing this specific time period, Which is also the inspiration behind these photos. If you want to see how the video turned out scroll down to the bottom.

As for my thoughts on the lipstick !  I've tried BĂ©same lipsticks in the past and they are always high quality and have good coverage. This particular shade is semi matte and I will say the coverage is incredible! I even drank coffee and it stayed put. Due to the shade and undertones I think it will be flattering for many skin tones, its not too bright and not too deep. It also photographs beautifully and the red really pops. I have a feeling this is going to be one of my new go to lipsticks ! If you want to get your own Victory Red lipstick there are still some special edition boxes left !  Get yours here

Riviera

Before we officially wave goodbye to summer I wanted to share the latest addition to my summer closet. I have been searching for shoes like this for about 2 years ! This is genuinely my DREAM shoe. They are the new Riviera shoes in white from Saint Savoy. They are these gorgeous T strap 3.5 cm heels in a soft white that are perfect for every day wear. They will look amazing with everything from dresses, to shorts, and skirts (I am especially excited to pair them with shorts!) I love their art deco design and since they are made of leather they will last for many years to come. I can already tell these will be a staple in my summer wardobe....you have been warned for next summer, you will be seeing these shoes every other post haha.

For this outfit I paired it with a 1930s floral pinafore dress, which might seem familiar if you watched my latest haul video.  I layered it over a fitted blouse with a bow (thrifted). I also added cream flowers to my hair to complete the look. I think its the perfect outfit for the last few days of summer and I'm so happy I got a chance to wear these shoes before the fall officially starts.
If you want to get yourself a pair of these shoes you can click here. Saint Savoy also sells the Riviera shoes in other colours with a higher heel or in flats.
