Pastel blue dreams

People often say that pastels are exclusively for the spring and summer but i think you can definitely work some pastel pieces into your  wardrobe to make it look very "winter-y." I have been wanting a baby blue coat for so long! (it was even on my christmas list!) but the problem is that you don't see very many of them in stores. so when i saw this one at forever 21 i snatched it up! i paired it with a blue skirt and tights because i found that black would look too harsh against the light blue colour. while looking through my scarf drawer i came across this pink and blue scarf i bought a couple of years ago when i put it beside the coat it was a match made in heaven! The blue in the scarf is different enough that it doesn't look like i am trying to perfectly match the shades.
To neutralize the outfit a bit i opted for a white chiffon blouse with some ruffles and a tie up bow for a touch of femininity. since it has been a little bit colder lately i wanted to incorporate a hat and this camel beret was a perfect choice!

Black Beret

As you guys know i am an advocate for colourful outfits..... i like the coloured tights and dresses but i too fall in the trap of the oh so classic black and white outfit. There is just something so simple yet chic about a monochromatic outfit that sometimes i break my own rules of always including a touch of colour.  As mentioned before (you have also probably noticed) i always have a bow somewhere in my outfit, tying a bow around my shirt collar is one of my favourite ways to wear a blouse.  I think it adds a certain femininity  to an outfit yet still looks polished and "suit" like, a perfect combination. You always hear people say a girl always needs a little black dress, while this is true i also think that a girl always needs a simple, basic black skirt.  A black skirt can be combined time and time again to create multiple outfits without anyone noticing you are repeating pieces.
Berets are basically the only types of hats i wear, i don't know if its the simpleness of them or that they remind me  of the most stereotypical french girl  ever. nonetheless i think they are a staple in every girls wardrobe. This clutch has been a recent buy of mine... and i will let you in on a little secret... it isn't even a real clutch its an ipad case and if you were to open it up you would find a cushioned lining... hey! at least my phone will be safe! i am definitely on the look out for more (faux) fur bags i think they look super cute for the winter time!

Toronto Christmas market

Its that time of year again! The Toronto christmas market is open!  This is the annual christmas market in the distillery district filled with music, food and small shops with christmas goodies.  As you walk the cobblestore streets you hear christmas carols being sung and your nose if filled with scents of hot chocolate and cookies, it definitely gets you into the christmas spirit.

You can find a large variety of food such as soup, chilly, poutine, grilled cheese, hot dogs, hot chocolate, cookies, apple cider, potatoes on a stick (see picture 6!) and more!  we opted for hot dogs, apple cider and the potato on a stick which was delicious and it has a dusting of sour cream and onion flavour.

since it was the opening weekend for the market it was the perfect weekend to go, the weather was perfect it even snowed slightly ! i took this opportunity to break out my red coat and white furry hat... you could say it was santa clause inspired hahah. Everyone was in the christmas spirit and you could hear children laughing with joy. if you are in the area i definitely recommend you to go!  hopefully i will go once again before christmas :)

Royal blue

In attempts to add some colour to my fall/winter outfits i added a royal blue coat to an all black and white look. Black, navys, and reds are the colours i gravitate to the most, i find it hard to find bright coloured coats but i am obsessed with this coat from Laura. We have been so lucky with the fall weather this year, normally we should've had snow by now but we are still in the 12-15 range which is amazing!!  i haven't been able to get much wear out of my gloves but i am sure i will get a change in the next couple of months. these pictures were taken early in the morning so it was a little bit colder so of course i grabbed these furry leather gloves!
i've been seeing these style of gloves everywhere this year!  we'll.... technically mittens, i have already gotten a couple of pairs already.

Tweed bows

Most people would argue that you should never mix black and blue, but i think with fashion you can sometimes break these rules. This navy blue coat has a thin leather border which makes it perfect for combining it with black. i decided to keep the outfit really minimal and just add a white chiffon blouse underneath and then i added some printed black tights just so that the outfit isn't too dark  as well as adding visual interest.
90% of the time there will be a bow somewhere on my outfit, most of the times its around my collar and its usually a thin scarf. For this outfit i decided to try something different and i used a hair bow and clipped it on my shirt instead :)

Houndstooth love

Houndstooth is by far my favourite print, especially in the fall and winter! i've been obsessed with this coat from H&M since i saw it on the website back at the end of the summer, i went to countless stores to find it, from toronto to montreal and quebec city. i ended up finding it while  in new york! who knew i had to change countries in order to find it! Statement coats are great for spicing up a simple outfit but i find that you have to wear them sporadically because they are so memorable. Plain coloured coats such as black, grey and blue can be worn over and over again with different outfits and no one will notice especially if you change up your scarf. Although you might not get as much use of a statement coat as you would a plain one i still think it is an essential in any girls wardrobe. (i am currently on the hunt for fun coloured coats, orange, red, bright green, yellow)

Another essential is black tights! you can never have enough black tights. I wear them so often that i am constantly looking for them around my room (even tho i have like 6 pairs) my suggestion is avoid spending a lot of money on black tights because  you will  constantly be wearing them, thus they are most likely to tear or wear out. You can find some at walmart for $5. i say splurge on cool patterned tights because they are harder to find as opposed to plain dark colours.
