Thanksgiving 2022

Isn't thanksgiving one of the best days of the year?? I know I say this about every holiday.... but I just love Holidays so much !  You come together with family and enjoy each others company over a nice meal! The colours of fall also add to that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when being around family. Throw in the crisp cold wind of the fall and a warm apple cider and you have a perfect day!  My family always does a big thanksgiving meal. Typically we have a thanksgiving lunch as we eat way too much for it to be a dinner.  It also gives us a chance to hang out for longer because we have the entire day. We tend to celebrate on the Sunday as opposed to the traditional Monday, because we can stay up late and watch movies without worrying about responsibilities the next day.

FOOD AND DECOR
My favourite activity is decorating the table, I dug up all of the thanksgiving decorations and got to work!  I think the table turned out very festive. I always hang leaves from the lamp with super thin sparkly thread because it gives the illusion that the leaves are falling on you. The centrepiece was a bunch of pumpkins in different shapes and colours. Some gold charger plates and acorns for name tags.
For the appetizer I made a pumpkin shaped cheese "ball" Not really sure what to call it but its basically Boursin cheese (garlic and fine herbs) covered in finely graded cheddar with a red pepper stem for the top. It only took a few minutes to make and it looked so festive! However I won't take all the creditl, I saw it on pinterest ! We ate the cheese with baguette crisps (Olive oil and sea salt)  and thin pretzels (elephant, Honey Mustard and onion). I also put some brass mice to decorate the plate, nuts and some grapes. A simple appetizer so we don't get too full before the meal.
For lunch we had the classics: Turkey, Mashed potatoes, rice, salad, caramelized carrots (My fave), Sweet potatoes. And for dessert I made an apple crumble! Which I prefer over apple pie because the apple is cut into tiny thin slices instead fo chunks.

WHAT I WORE
For the past 3 thanksgivings I've worn the same dress... something that is very unlike me but this Miss Patina dress is PERFECT for thanksgiving. Plaid is the perfect print for fall and this particular dress has orange and blue tones with a white peter pan collar. For outerwear I grabbed a camel coloured coat and my Thanksgiving day brooch.

After Lunch my mom and I went on a walk through the ravine. The leaves are almost fully turned and we were surrounded by bright orange leaves. The perfect backdrop for a thanksgiving walk. I took a few photos on my phone that you can see below! It was the perfect ending to a Thanksgiving day!

  1. Something about Thanksgiving and vintage go together very well, perhaps it is family traditions, along with taking the time to be thankful for our blessings..... Plaid is always a perfect autumn choice along with lovely brown tones such as your camel coloured coat ... I have a light carmel/orange sweater I love to wear this time of year with a dark brown jacket that has big buttons, no zippers ... Happy Thanksgiving Carolina & Family ... Pink Pearls xo
