Visiting HMCS Haida 2

I recently went to to HMCS Haida, A ship that was used during Word War 2. I visited this historical site last year for the first time and its incredible (Last years blog post: Click Here!) If you live near driving distance to Hamilton I highly recommend it.  I can tell you what an amazing and eyeopening experience it is but actually being inside the ship, going up and down the ladders they used, is a completely different feeling. What these men lived through during the was must've been incredibly difficult, I can't even begin to imagine. its amazing that we have landmarks like these where future generations can see the sacrifices that were made for the future we have today.

Warplane Museum

I recently went to the Warplane Museum, a place I haven't been to since I was in elementary school. At the time I didn't really appreciate it or to think of all the history that goes along with all the planes. For me it was just another field trip which meant I didn't have to be in a classroom that day. Growing up I never really liked History class, not sure if it was because of the teachers or all the dates you had to memorize or that there was so much focus on the actual battles and the strategies they used.  I was always more interested in seeing the effects of war and the life of the people living in that time, which surprisingly we didn't really cover... it as very "textbook" and not a lot of the human aspect of history.  As someone who loves fashion its important to know history because whats going on in the world has a huge influence on what people wear. for example in the 1940's clothes were more simple and modest due to fabric rationing ,which completely changed the design from early 1930's (Even  resulted in slightly shorter hemlines due to lack of fabric)   as well as women started to wear pants as they entered the workforce while the men were fighting in the war. Thats the type of information that I find really interesting, it doesn't have to be about fashion it could be the effects the war had on food, toys, relationships etc. I wont post a whole history lesson lol but if you guys are interested in a more informative blog post for a particular decade let me know and I can do some research and put one together!  As for the outfit I am wearing, I have this navy blue floral dress from Monroe with some burgundy heels and a vintage burgundy bag. For my hair I just added these 2 flower clips! Let me know what you guys think of this look in the comments below!

Daisy Matching Set

You guys know I loveeee matching sets AND gingham !  So when I saw this matching set I nearly fainted! And It's vintage from the 70's ! The red and white combination is one of my favourites for summer, it always looks effortless and like a picnic LOL (This seems to be a common theme in my past few posts) I also love the flower print on both the top and the skirt. I paired the set with these red slingback shoes that I think really help complete the look! Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Light blue Gingham

How darling is this gingham dress! its the perfect daytime dress to walk around in the garden. I've always been drawn to tablecloth print dresses in the summertime, If I look like a picnic then I'm happy! This particular dress is from shein, I've had it in my closet since the middle of the winter and I FINALLY took it out for a spin! I love the small buttons going along the front as well as the matching belt. I actually appreciate that its an actual belt vs just a string that you tie into a bow, I think it gives it a more put together/elegant look. I paired the dress with some white kitten heels (Which seems to be my summer staple this year) and for a more romantic look to it I pinned my hair up on the sides with these cream flower clips. Fun fact: I used to wear this hairstyle pretty much every day in my senior year of high school, I have clips like these in numerous colours. Let me know what you think of this look in the comments below as well as make sure to check out my suburban summer lookbook  down below!

Gingham Picnic Dress

Summer isn't summer without a gingham dress. I got this dress from Etsy about a month ago and I was surprised at how amazingly it fit! its an amazing little shift dress that hangs on the body making it incredibly comfortable. I layered the dress over a white puffy sleeve blouse from zara. For accessories I chose this little wicker bag that resembles a picnic basket, and some red slingback block heels!

Suburban fit and Flare

I love a good fit and flare dress! I got this stunning vintage dress on etsy and its been one of my favourites this summer. It has a beautiful check plaid print in purple and white, with some criss cross stitching for some extra detail. I think this dress is the perfect day dress for just going on a walk in your neighbourhood. It truly made me feel like I was from a different era haha.
