Movies I've been loving

If you didn't know I am a huge movie fan, I mainly love classical films (I get a thrill out of understanding movie references) I also get a lot of inspiration from the fashion used in the film (Duh) as well as the romance and seeing how different peoples lives were back them compared to now. As much as I love classical films Horror is probably my next favourite movie genre, I'm very intrigued by the supernatural as well as there is always great fashion in horror movies, its such an unexpected element that I love! below I've listed some of my favourite movies of the moment, movies I've been watching over and over during the past few weeks. These aren't my top favourite movies but they are great and I highly recommend them !

Move over Darling (1963) :  It's a movie I recently discovered and I wish I had watched this movie sooner !  its a comedy starting Doris Day, James Garner and Polly Bergen. In the film a man looses his wife at sea and is presumed dead, After 5 years he remarries only find out his wife was rescued has returned home... while he's on his honeymoon ! Its witty and cheeky and filled with amazing fashion from start to finish. I want all the clothes Doris Day wore in this film ! Great light hearted movie that I would recommend to anyone, even if they don't like older films. (And its on Netflix!)

The Secret Garden (1993) : Based off the novel of the same name written by Frances Hodgson Burnett (Also the writer of a Little princess, also a great movie!) Its the story of a girl who loses her parents in an earthquake while living in india. She returns to England to live on her uncles estate. He is rarely home so she is mainly cared for by the housekeepers and maids of the estate.  Due to boredom she begins to explore the property and discovers a secret garden... along with some other secrets. I've always loved this movie I remember watching it a lot growing up. I really like the way its filmed as well as costumes that convey the time period.... I mean come on the braids with the giant red bows at the end with the red slouchy beret... I die.  [Warning... the trailer is extremely cheesy lol don't let that turn you off from watching the film]

The Others (2001): The only Horror movie in this list is The Others, if you haven't seen this movie... stop what you're doing and go watch it right now! I discovered this movie a few years ago and its always one I go back to because its such a great film. It stars Nicole Kidman, who plays a mother  living with her two photosensitive children in a big dark house. As the movie progresses she becomes convinced the house they live in is haunted. An amazing film which always leaves me questioning everything when I finish watching it. (also on Netflix)

Changeling (2008) : This is the most recent movie I have on this list!  Its an amazing movie based on the true story of Christine Collins (Thats what makes this movie so compelling) The movie stars Angelina Jolie (which I'll be honest....I'm not a fan.. but I love her in this role, she did a fantastic job) Its the story of a mom who returns home from work after leaving her son home alone, Only to realize he's gone missing. A few months later her son Walter is found, to her shock the kid that stepped off the train is not her son, despite authorities telling her she's wrong and that it is indeed her son. Its a little bit slow to start (mainly for character development) but I promise stick with it till the end and you wont be disappointed. (Don't look up the real story online before watching the movie or it will ruin it, wait till after you finish watching it)

Somewhere in time (1980) : I was recently introduced to this movie by my dad, He has always loved this movie and I can see why. The beautiful costumes as well as a plot line involving "realistic" time travel makes this movie a great choice for your next movie night. The movie stars Christopher Reeve (Yes superman) which tells the story of a playwright from Chicago who travels back in time to meet an actress who's vintage portrait hangs in the hotel where he's staying. As mentioned before I appreciate the realism of the time travel which makes it seem like its totally possible (you'll find me in my room..with my eyes closed)

I hope you liked this post, it's a little bit different than what I normally write about but I like sharing my movie interests with you, if you have any movie recommendations for me please let me know in the comments ! As well if you watch any of these movies let me know your thoughts !

Sunday in Niagara-on-The-Lake

Yesterday I spent the day in Niagara on the Lake with my family, It was the first day were it actually felt like summer !  Even tho it was really hot that didn't stop me from wearing one of my favourite berets... I know I have a problem but they are so cute and they compliment basically every outfit ! For this look W went for something a bit more casual, I grabbed this red and cream striped skirt from Forever 21 that has a lovely scalloped edge.  I paired it with one of my favourite ruffled shirts from H&M, and topped the look off with my cream coloured beret. I love the slight vintage sailor vibes I get from this look ..... probably because I watched move over darling yesterday and in the scene were Doris Day comes off the sailers ship she is wearing a white hat that has a similar look... ok now I'm rambling... My family and I spent the day shopping and ate in one of the restaurants on the main street. I love going to niagara on the lake, my family tends to go a few times a year just to spend the day. Another thing I love about it is that you can always find some unique pieces there... My find this time were these gorgeous vintage looking cat eye sunglasses which if you didn't see my instagram story yesterday you would've missed them, but they will definitely be in my June haul. Make sure to follow me on instagram and youtube so you don't miss out !

Monochromatic Camel

I've been really interested in monochromatic outfits lately, I keep finding myself matching pieces of the same colour together and playing with texture among them so that they're a bit more interesting. Here in Toronto we've had a few days of rain so the weather got a little bit chillier and I pulled out one of my knit sweaters. I wore this outfit on Wednesday to hang out with Adrienne and to go to dinner with a high school friend of mine who lives out of town. It's a fairly plain outfit but I love the texture from the sweater as well as the details from the pockets on the skirt (Both pieces are from H&M). For a purse I wanted something that had a similar tone to it but maybe with a bit more colour so I grabbed this white and beige backpack from Modalu. This is probably my favourite backpack that I own and, and I honestly wish I could wear it everyday but since its made of white fabric I tend to be very careful with it (I really shouldn't baby it so much, but its just so perfect!). As for shoes, I  tied in the beige/camel tones and went for a pair of fuzzy leopard print heels I feel like they pull the whole outfit together perfectly.  I hope you guys like this look let me know what you think of monochromatic outfits in the comments!

Gingham Love

Gingham has been everywhere since the start of the spring! from skirts to shoes to bags. I fell in love with this gingham dress the moment I saw it at  Suzy Shier. I love the fit and flare fit and the buttons on the front which give it a very 50's vibe. When wearing this dress I feel like a wife who's been baking for her family all day and I am all about it!  You know me, if it has a vintage vibe to it I will buy it and on top of everything it's perfect for twirling. I paired the dress with these plain black kitten heels and I tied my hair half up half down which always gives a feminine feel to any outfit!
For all of you wondering I had a wonderful birthday weekend ! It was my birthday on Thursday and I spent the day walking around  the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) as well as shopping on bloor street. I then went out for dinner with family and my boyfriend, I chose a Chinese restaurant which is my favourite type of food! On Friday it was my boyfriends birthday so went out for dinner and hung out at my house where I filled my basement with balloons and made him a cake. On Saturday I went out with Adrienne and Mikayla where they surprised me by decorating Mikaylas apartment with balloons, and happy birthday banners ! They are honestly the best friends in the world!

Spring Lookbook

I know its a little bit late but its finally warm here in Canada ! I always see spring lookbooks and people wear sleeveless dresses and shorts and its like we don't all live in LA where spring is pretty much summer, so I thought I would share a realistic Canadian spring lookbook. For the first look (which happens to be my favourite)  I wore this houndstooth print skirt with a red mock neck long sleeved shirt. For the most part it's warm enough to wear bare legs but I would rather keep myself a bit warmer with a long sleeved top, both pieces are from H&M. I also pulled out a black beret (last time for the season... tear) which I thought matched the style perfectly, that one is from Coach. To finish the look off I grabbed my mini black backpack (from Spring)  and strappy heels (from Le Chateau)

The second look is my second favourite look of the lookbook, its a bit more casual than I normally wear, I  actually decided to give the clear glasses trend a try. I've worn them in a previous post but I am obsessed with how it looks with a ponytail and the entire outfit. These round glasses are from Wear me pro and they are so cute! I can't wait to wear them again ! I wore them with this light beige long sleeved shirt an a white denim skirt (both from H&M.) To keep the rest of the outfit light I draped this denim jacket over my shoulders, I got this jacket while I was in Peru from The Gap and its taking everything in me not to wear it every day.

The third outfit is a little more colourful, I wore this Long sleeved red shirt (the same as the first outfit) and paired it with this pink midi skirt form Zara.  I've been obsessed with this red and pink combination lately, I'm not sure why (yes I know I look like a valentines day card) I think its so cute and girly. To add some interest to the outfit I paired it with this red and gold embellished cross body bag that I got at a boutique in niagara on the lake. To add to the theme I wore red heels and some pale nude coloured sunnies from Aerie. Aerie actually has a lot of really cute sunglasses!  One of my new favourite places to stop by when i'm at the mall.

The fourth outfit is a little more formal, but still a bit more edgy with the black patent skirt. I got this skirt from Express and its so cute! I cannot tell you how long I looked for a skirt like this and I'm so happy I found it ! I paired it with a plain light blue blouse from H&M and a clear purse from Zara. Since the outfit is really minimal I really wanted to play with the accessories! You guys know I've been really into these metal embellished headbands (they remind me of tiaras and who doesn't want to be a princes.... am I right) I grabbed a silver one because I thought it matched the light blue tones a bit better and also added these dangly pear earrings that have a bit of silver jewels at the top.

The last look is a bit more "scholarly" Definitely a nod at ivy prep fashion. Ivy prep is my favourite style to wear in the fall so I thought i would try to apply it to my spring wardrobe. Although the colours aren't particularly light for spring I still think its a great spring outfit ! I wore this lace cropped shirt that has beautiful flared sleeves ! (from zara) and I paired it with my favourite denim skirt from H&M (you guys have seen it countless times) For a little warmth I wore this thin grey blazer from Topshop that has this awesome tiger patch on the side. I again gave the clear glasses trend a try, I've been seeing these aviator glasses all over instagram and I just had to try them ! I love how they compliment the outfit giving it more school vibes.

so those are all the looks i hope you guys like them let me know in the comments which looks is your favourite! I also added a video below if you want to see the looks in action ! Make sure to subscribe to my channel because there will be a couple of birthday videos going up on there next week !
