Houndstooth love

Houndstooth is by far my favourite print, especially in the fall and winter! i've been obsessed with this coat from H&M since i saw it on the website back at the end of the summer, i went to countless stores to find it, from toronto to montreal and quebec city. i ended up finding it while  in new york! who knew i had to change countries in order to find it! Statement coats are great for spicing up a simple outfit but i find that you have to wear them sporadically because they are so memorable. Plain coloured coats such as black, grey and blue can be worn over and over again with different outfits and no one will notice especially if you change up your scarf. Although you might not get as much use of a statement coat as you would a plain one i still think it is an essential in any girls wardrobe. (i am currently on the hunt for fun coloured coats, orange, red, bright green,yellow)

Another essential is black tights! you can never have enough black tights. I wear them so often that i am constantly looking for them around my room (even tho i have like 6 pairs) my suggestion is avoid spending a lot of money on black tights because  you will  constantly be wearing them, thus they are most likely to tear or wear out. You can find some at walmart for $5. i say splurge on cool patterned tights because they are harder to find as opposed to plain dark colours.

Red dreams

This was one of the last days of the "warm streak" we had this week, we were lucky enough to have some above seasonal weather for november. I took advantage of the great weather to stroll around downtown and spend some time outside, it wont be long until we are standing in a foot of snow. (ugh)

White tights is something i love wearing especially in the winter... i know what they say.. no white after labour day.. but constantly wearing black tights can get very boring, so i like to switch it up with white whenever possible, especially in the day time. this outfit is great for a relaxed day, this forever 21 skirt has an elastic waist which makes it super comfortable along with this cotton blouse (also from forever 21) 

Strappy heels with tights is a current obsession of mine, i think it adds a certain "girlyness" to an outfit. The key is to pick shoes that have a closed toe this will give the illusion of a "winter shoe" as well as it hides the seem from the tights. 

Golden Pants

i am not one to wear sunglasses, i always get annoyed at the little mark sunglasses leave on my nose lol but i have been really into cat eye sunglasses lately and i am still on the hunt for the perfect pair. 

This is probably one of the favourite pants i own i love the combination of gold black and white especially when paired with these shoes. (which are my favourite ones of all time!)

Silk Scarves

i can't believe its november and i am outside in a chiffon shirt! This whole week its suppose to be so warm, and i plan to make the most of it!! Again i am wearing coloured tights this time its a mustard yellow which i think is a colour most people wouldn't gravitate towards, particularly in the tights department. i tied in the colour of the tights to a colour on the silk scarf. 

i think that silk scarves are a must have for everyone, especially in the fall. its a great way to add a touch of colour, and can keep you a bit warmer in the crisp fall wind. As well as making your outfit look polished and "vintage chic."

Pink coloured tights

i love adding pops of colour to my outfits, particularly in the winter! i tend to wear a lot of black and white in the colder months because its what you find the most of in stores. i think coloured tights are the perfect way to add colour to any outfit, you can find them almost anywhere in different colours and patterns. i usually try to link the colour of the tights to a colour that is in the rest of the outfit. for example in this particular outfit that i am wearing i matched the colour of the tights to the pink in the dress. or you could use the tights as a pop of colour in a black and white outfit. 

As for shoes, in most cases black works. you don't have to have shoes that are the same colour as the tights, although i do that from time to time.
