1920s Garden Party

The Gatsby Garden Party is back at Spadina house !! Ok... its now called a 1920s Party but STILL. The last garden party they had was in 2019 and due to the pandemic they haven't had it since.  They garden party is hosted at the Spadina house (right beside Casa Loma). Its a really fun event because everyone dresses up in 1920s clothes and there is live music (1920s tunes of course). I wore a 1920s reproduction dress that I got from Ian Drummond vintage, as well as a reproduction cloche hat. And even though the pieces aren't authentic from the period I think they blend in perfectly. I was going to wear a true 1920s pink dress I own but I didn't have a hat that paired well with it, which isn't an issue for every day wear.... but for the the 1920s party I wanted a full outfit!

They also hold small tours of the house during the party, In 2019 they actually had time slots and you walked through the whole house with a guide. This time around they opened the first floor and you could just walk through. As convenient as that is..... I feel like you didn't get to see much of the house or learn about it. I much prefer to sign up for a slot and see the whole house (I'll even pay a little bit extra like it was in the past). However I know thats an option all year round. The house, art and decor reflects styles from the 1860s to the 1930s. Although most of the house is in 1920s-1930s style. The last member of the family to live in the house was Anne Kathleen Thomson who lived there from 1942-1982 and in 1984 it opened up as a museum. It really is one of my favourite buildings in the city so its fun to see it surrounded by people dressed like its the 1920s. Almost like a glimpse into the past.

  1. Looking great as usual, just be careful with Kolchak walking around there's always a werewolf or vampire or some such when he's around.
