i love showering people with gifts on birthdays and holidays. Fathers day is no exception! while mothers day was a easy i find fathers day shopping to be a bit tricky. My father is one of those people who has all the things he needs, he always says he doesn't want anything for fathers day just for us to be happy. He's always putting all of us first so this year i thought i would go the extra mile and sway away from the typical tie or sweater gift. I recently went shopping for my dad at Oakville Place in Oakville, Ontario. Where i saw a variety of amazing gifts that any day would love!
The first one is a watch! What man doesn't love a nice watch! unlike women men don't really have much of a selection when it comes accessories, so watches are definitely their area! and tend to have a few different ones to wear depending on the outfit or occasion. i went into Raffi watch boutique where they have a huge selection of high end watches so you are sure to find one that your dad will fall in love with! This particular watch is the Tag Heuer Aqua racer.
You can never go wrong with a nice bottle of cologne. Its something many dads wouldn't buy for themselves because that bottle he got 10 years ago isn't done yet.... i knew cologne would be a great gift so i went to Shoppers Drug Mart because of their huge selection of high end colognes, i knew i would have a lot of options to choose from. The first one i chose is Mr Burberry by Burberry, first of all the bottle is amazing and it smells even better. The notes include Grapefruit, vetivier, and Guaiacwood. it's very fresh and not too overpowering. The second one is my favourite of the two and it is Legend by Montblanc, my dad is all about his Montblanc pens so when i say this cologne in store i grabbed it, i laughed, because it made me think of my dad. i was so surprised at how amazing this smells! its a very sophisticated, masculine scent with amazing notes which include italian bergamot, French lavandin, Pinapple leaves, White cedar, rose, sandlewood, and more!
Its summertime so i thought i would include some colour on the list, i see so many men sticking to the typical navy blue, gray or black. i don't know why some men are so afraid of colour. I thought polos would be a great way to add some colour to any dads wordrobe because they are suppose to be colourful and bright. i went into Hudson's Bay and they have a huge Polo Raulph Lauren section! polos is many different colours and materials as well as button up shirts and pants, basically anything a man could need. i opted for the polos in red, navy, orange and light blue.
Speaking of Ralph Lauren this wallet would be a perfect gift for any dad! again i got this at Hudson's Bay, its a beautiful black leather with many compartments for all the cards and cash he might carry around. I personally get so excited when i get a new wallet because i get to switch over all of my cards and re-organize it, and having it look all nice and new. And if you think about it how often do dads buy themselves a new wallet, i think it would make a great gift ! But don't forget ! its bad luck to give an empty wallet as a gift, so stick a $5 in there! ;)
An umbrella is a unique gift. I think its fun because its something not many people would buy for themselves, or if they do they grab a cheap black one because its raining that day and they have to walk somewhere. Not many people invest in a nice printed ones that they can mix and match depending on the outfit. I picked this Fulton umbrella up at Hudson's bay, Fulton the company that makes umbrellas for the queen...what a way to make your father feel like royalty! its a beautiful plaid umbrella with navy, white and green with this amazing wooden handle. its a perfect umbrella for dad to use when he's on his way to and from work. ( also a great umbrella for me to steal in the future...just kidding)
Clothes are a great gift for anyone, especially dads! i went into RW&CO where they have a huge selection of clothes for men of all different styles, you have some casual pieces as well as some more elegant ones. i saw this amazing blazer with beautiful brown buttons. its a great piece that can be worn day to day. i paired it with a few accessories, one being this light brown leather belt with a silver buckle, you can never have to many belts! Another great gift are shoes! i got these brown shoes from Aldo! Aldo has a huge variety of different shoes, dress shoes, sneakers and everything else in between so you are sure to find something that matches your dads style.
i love gifting things that someone wouldn't buy for themselves but are awesome to have, one of those things could be a passport holder ! Passport holders are so fun as well as they protect your passport and helps keep its shape without bending the corners. This particular one is from Roots and it has a beautiful design that allows you to see your passport. Any dad would appreciate the craftmenship as well as the rich brown leather. And what a better place to buy a passport holder for a canadian passport than Roots!
My father travels a lot for work so to match the passport holder i thought a toiletry bag would be a great gift ! This particular one is also from Roots and its made up of that same coloured leather. Which i think is a beautiful rich colour. its spacious so it is sure to hold all of the things a dad might need while travelling, including shampoo!
Pants are always a great option for a gift! this particular pair is from RW&CO and they are made up of this soft grey material so your dad will want to wear them every day! grey is a colour you can wear all year round, it looks great with spring/summer colours as well as fall/winter, its a basic every man should have in his closet. I also selected another pair of shoes, these are also from Aldo and they are sure to go with so many different outfits dad might already have in his closet.
i hope you guys enjoyed this post and got some inspiration on what to buy your dad for fathers day, please share if you found it useful :) and don't forget to tell your dad you love him this fathers day, it will put a bigger smile on his face than any gift would.

Thanks for such a great guide; it gave me quite a few ideas! My father and husband are pretty much the same when it comes to gifts; they never want anything. I think offering a nice summer polo or an umbrella is something they would appreciate though! It's not expensive and it's definitely something they would use. Thanks again and have a great weekend:)

You picked some great gifts, and I had to chuckle at your caption for colognes. It's SO true that their colognes just last and last and last, haha. My fiance said he bought his current cologne from literally ten years ago, and he still has a good chunk left!

My father is one of those that when you ask what he wants, he'll just reply "Nothing!". Nonetheless, as we will be in America on the day, I think a good meal out will suffice! These are some really helpful suggestions!
