Gloomy January

Not to start off another post talking about the weather but..... January has been terribly gloomy. There was a period of 12 consecutive days where we didn't see a single ray of sunshine. My entire house was dark because the skies were covered by thick dark clouds. January is always a weird month for me, the holidays are over and its even colder outside so I tend to stay home most of the time. I always struggle to find inspiration in January. However I decided to go outside for a bit to get some fresh air and to try to find the beauty among the gloom (lol ). This was the outfit I wore: Starting with the outer layers, I am wearing a vintage fur coat that I got fo Christmas last year, I love the colour and it practically matches everything ! Under that I am wearing a blue cardigan layered over a cream blouse, a staple pairing in my wardrobe. I paired that with a vintage wool skirt in brown and navy tones. This is the thickest skirt I own and its incredibly warm! For accessories I kept everything in the same tones with navy gloves, a navy hat, navy shoes and a navy purse, all vintage of course!  The perfect colour palette to wear among the muted colours we often see in nature this time of year. The air was crisp but it wasn't as cold as I expected. The lighting (for photos) was beautiful, I guess thats the benefit of a cloudy sky, it creates a giant soft box. I saw a few birds on the shore of the lake and flying overhead, but the streets were mostly empty and it was really calm and peaceful to walk around. How do you feel about Januray?

  1. Wearing fur, even vintage fur, is not a victimless crime. It's a shame that you don't seem to care much about animals, so long as you look nice.

  2. Hello Carolina,

I just watched your latest YouTube video, applying your everyday vintage makeup tutorial. The application of your beauty products is perfect, as you are able to obtain a natural glamour, enhancing your own beauty. I always found less is best and always receive completes ....

As for our very gloomy January ( I live an hour away from Toronto ) it has been challenging with the lack of sun .... Counting my blessings is a help, along with enjoying my vintage collection, rearranging a few items to give a room a new look .... I love little whimsical pieces, they give me a smile ... I've just discovered the sweetest Beatrix Potter figurines produced by the former Beswick Pottery of England, very delightful little characters ...

With Kind Regards, Pink Pearls xo
