Getting volumized hair with Kérastase

I am always on the hunt for products that will give my hair volume, although it might not look like it, i actually have ALOT of hair, and since its heavy it tends to get weighed down so, i lack from volume at the roots. Throughout my life i have experimented with thinning my hair at the bottom to reduce weight but the only difference i saw was that my hair looking thinner and limp. i have stopped doing that and now and  i just get a few long layers at the end of my hair and just letting it be. I have also found that keeping it a medium length helps because its not as heavy so it looks fuller overall (This was heartbreaking as someone who has always loved long hair.)  i have just accepted that that is  just the way my hair is and i now look for products to compliment it instead of fighting against it. i recently used some new products that i actually think gave my hair a lot of body and movement without weighing it down!

I start off by using the Kérastase Volumifique shampoo and conditioner. And let me just start of by saying that these smell amazing!! it has a slight fruity scent in the grapes and kiwi area (very fitting to the packaging) its an interesting scent because its so unique, not a lot of hair care products smell like this and i LOVE that. its a very fresh clean scent. I think my favourite part is the conditioner, its a clear conditioner which is what you want to look for when trying to achieve volume (its a bit hard to find and i'm not sure why) it being clear means its more lightweight and less heavy than your standard creamy conditioner, i definitely saw the difference in my hair after using it. As my hair started to dry i noticed my hair had a lot more body, i couldn't believe it when i looked in the mirror.

After my  shower i towel dry my hair a little bit... i hate it when the my shirt gets wet from my hair haha.  If i have time i will let it air dry about 60% (you can use a blow dryer if you are in a rush) Then i used the Kérastase volume expansion spray, this has the same scent as the shampoo and conditioner. I think that it's really important because then you won't have a mixture of scents in your hair. i apply this directly near the roots and a bit throughout my hair. You don't want to go too crazy with it because excess product is never good. i use about 2 sprays on my roots, on each side and a few around my hair ( about 2-3). Then using my hands i will run my fingers through my hair and shake it out a little bit to distribute the product. i think that step makes a world of a difference.

This is  where you will see the most drastic change, and that is with the use of mousse! i have always been told to use mousse in my hair to achieve volume but i'm always scared that my hair will feel sticky and not natural. After using the Kérastase impulse amplifying mousse i can honestly say it left my hair feeling so soft and with tons of movement, i could run my fingers through my hair and it felt as if i had no product in it. I applied a generous amount onto my roots (about an orange sized amount) I did this by flipping my hair from one side to another and then  massaging it in using my fingers. Again this is the same scent as all the other products, trust me your hair will end up smelling amazing.

Immediately after applying the mousse i used a hairdryer. i find that hairdryers and mousse go hand in hand when trying to achieve more volume. i flip my hair from side to side and direct the heat in the opposite direction that my hair falls. Which till give you a light lift at the roots.  You can also achieve this by flipping you hair upside down and drying that way.

For some extra movement and bounce i slightly curled the ends of my hair, i was channeling my inner Kate Middleton...she has perfect hair! i did this by using a 1inch curling iron, this one is just from conair and is about $24! I like using a curling iron as opposed to a curling wand because the clamp holds the hair in place and i don't risk burning the ends of my fingers... which i have done in the past haha. This step ins completely optional!  i just like the look of slightly curled hair.

And just like that you will have volumized hair filled with body and movement.  You can channel your inner hair idol... mine being Kate Middleton and Olivia Palermo. i think the key here is the Volumifique collection by Kérastase.  They are designed to amplify and reinforce fine hair and give it volume but also lightness. They have agents that help control frizz and add shine without weighing your hair down, i think the products do just that! The shampoo and conditioner leave my hair feeling clean without being stripped down which i think is really important for the long term health of your hair.  As for the Spray and mousse, they really made a difference when it came to styling my hair, it gave it extra volume and staying power which is in my eyes, is a dream come true.

Spring is the perfect time to wear a trench coat!  i have been trying to stray away from regular coloured trench coats and gravitating towards pretty coloured ones! This is one of my favourites because  i love anything pastel :) on my shopping list in a yellow trench coat and a pink one :)  i decided to keep the rest of the outfit minimal by using mostly the colour cream, the blouse is cream and so it the skirt (with some cute polka dots! ) also how adorable are these shoes!! i am obsessed ! :)

Blazer and Chanel

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I think the best weekends are the ones spent with friends and family. On friday i went out for dinner with my boyfriend and then we stayed in and had a full house marathon (thats kind of our thing lately lol) on saturday i worked for most of the day and then hung out with some friends i hadn't seen in a while, it was a good night :) its always nice to catch up with old friends.  Since it's been so nice outside lately i went downtown, had a coffee and walked around, it's what i  typically do on sundays. i have a love hate relationship with sunday evenings though because  they are usually lazy and a time i spend time with my family but that means you are getting closer to monday haha. my family always has dinner on sundays, last night we had lonche, which is a peruvian "meal" its basically our version of brunch but its in the evening and it consists mostly of sandwiches. i highly recommend you all try it :)

As you guys have probably noticed i love anything school uniform inspired!  funny enough i wore i uniform my whole life... but my school uniform was ugly lol. I never had a problem with the idea of wearing a uniform, i just wish they were cute... we didn't even have quilts we had to wear ugly gray pants. I've always been drawn to british private school uniforms and that sort of "look" so i always try to incorporate those elements into my outfits. When i saw this blazer i actually lost my mind it's everything i could possibly want in a blazer, i mean look at the white trimming on the lapel and the pocket!! ahh i am obsessed!  To make the outfit a bit more interesting i grabbed a mustard yellow pleated skirt and paired with with a white blouse and black tights. An obsession of mine all winter has been wearing strappy sandals over tights i think it's such a cute and feminine look, so of course i am carrying that out in the spring.  And the final touch to my outfit in a Chanel brooch on the pocket.

Skirt and blouse: forever 21

Mothers Day Gift Guide!

So it's that time of year were we like to treat our moms to something special to remind them of how much we love them and appreciate all that they do. Mothers day is on Sunday May 8th so i recently went shopping for my own mom at Oakville Place in Oakville, Ontario where i saw so many beautiful things that i think would be perfect for mom!  I decided to put together a group of perfect presents to give you some inspiration.

The first thing is perfume! Every woman loves perfume so it makes the perfect gift for Mom. I went to Shoppers Drug Mart  because they have a huge selection of high end perfumes, that maybe Mom wouldn't buy for herself, so I figured it would be nice to spoil her. The first on the list is Dolce by Dolce and Gabbana it is such a beautiful scent ! Some of the notes include papaya flower, white amaryllis, white water lilly, cashmeran, and sandalwood. It is a floral scent and is perfect for spring! and i mean come one! look at that bottle!
The second perfume I picked out is Lancomes la vie est belle which is my favourite out of the two! its a much warmer fragrance with the notes being iris, patchouli and gourmand which gives it a warm sweet scent, similar to a mothers hug.  It is a beautiful fragrance that can be worn all year round and the bottle is also stunning.

When I was walking around Oakville Place i noticed a new store!  a Yankee candle store! This is very exciting seeing as there are no other yankee candle stores anywhere near  the area. Yes you can find other retailers that sell these candles, but actually being in the stores gives you a much bigger selection! One of the fragrances that I was drawn to was Pink sands (not just because its pink!) but because of the beautiful scent! it is a mixture of bright citrus, florals and vanilla. This scent will take you away on a tropical vacation!  which as we all know, Moms deserve!
Another scent I love is vanilla cupcake (it's actually my favourite candle! ) it's very sweet and it does small exactly like a cupcake! it makes me think of when i was younger and my mom would bake cakes and cupcakes :)  i also find that most people like it when their homes smell like a bakery, its such a warm and inviting scent!
And lastly if your mom isn't into sweet scents or tropical scents there is always catching rays! which is a very fresh clean scent !  like the smell of fresh air on the first warm day after a long winter. the name is very fitting!

Bath and body works is also a great place to shop for mom! there is such a big selection of scents you can choose from! You don't even have to stick to one scent you can pick different things out so that Mom has different fragrances to wear on different days. One of the fragrances I picked is Hello beautiful...and i mean who doesn't want to hear that in the morning! hahaa! and yes as you can guess from the packaging it's a floral scent. The notes include white gardenia, Jasmine petals, and magnolia blossom. I love this scent especially for spring! and I am sure mom will love it too!
The second scent I chose is Limoncello, a very fresh scent ! with notes including sparkling lemon, sugar mint, and fresh verbena! it will make her feel like she's on vacation because it is such a refreshing scent.

For the moms who aren't into fragrances clothing is always a good option! as we step into spring the weather is very inconsistent it will be cold in the morning but by noon it will be warm, and some days are just cold. Therefore I think a new trench coat is perfect!  Trench coats are a staple in every woman's wardrobe so I stepped a little out of the box and went for a red one!  Most woman when they buy a trench coat they think of the traditional beige coloured one but red is so different and will make a woman stand out. This particular one is from RW&CO  (and i am not going to lie.... I want one for myself) it is a very thin and soft material, I am very particular when it comes to trench coats because some can be a bit to stiff for my liking but this one is incredibly soft  and fits like a dream!
Skinny scarves tied around the neck are a big trend right now, so why not keep Mom up to date with the latest fashions and get her one that can be paired up with her new trench coat! This beautiful polka dot scarf is also form RW&CO
To tie the whole outfit together why not get Mom another staple for her wardrobe, one that she can wear over and over again....small black heels!! I personally love to wear these during the day they go with so many different outfits and can be worn over and over again without anyone noticing you've been wearing them for 2 weeks straight. This particular pair is from Payless Shoes and they are honestly the most comfortable pair of heels (i own my own pair!)

For the spring days that are a little bit warmer (and for the upcoming summer!) a floral dress is a perfect gift for Mom! This dress is from Melanie Lyne and i think the print is absolutely beautiful and the colours are amazing, i haven't seen many dresses like this, so it is sure to make your mom stand out!
If you would like to add something else to this gift, a pair of heels would match perfectly! This light blue pair is from Payless Shoes  and they are incredibly comfortable to walk around in and are also in such a unique colour that your mom will be dying to wear them!

A purse is also a great gift! i mean what woman doesn't love purses! in my experience moms tend to buy purses that are are in a colour that can be used with many different outfits such a black, gray, or blue. But I think for mothers day lets get mom something different and add a pop or colour to her wardrobe! This purse is from H&M  and it big enough to fit all of those things moms carry in their purses haha and at the same time making her look very stylish.
if you wanted to add a little something extra why not add a pair of shoes that can be worn with the bag. Since the purse is such a beautiful colour you don't want to add another colour to compete with it but rather something that would compliment it. A plain pair of nude heels would be perfect! its something mom can wear with multiple outfits, especially this spring and summer :)  This pair is from Payless Shoes

And Last but certainly not least you could head over to Pandora and get mom a new charm or a whole new bracelet. It is something Mom would constantly have on her wrist and it would be a little reminder of you thought the day :) Oakville Place just opened a new Pandora store and let me tell you it is beautiful!! one unique thing they currently have is that they are the only location in Oakville that sells the rose coloured charms, which is sure to make your mom stand out when she is wearing her bracelet around town!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and got some inspiration if you were stuck on ideas on what to buy for mothers day.  Please share this post if you found it useful :)  And don't forget to give her a big kiss and tell her you love her!  Moms don't get tired of hearing it!

Navy and Pink

Hello and Happy Weekend! and its suppose to be a nice spring weekend with temperatures going up to 19 degrees! i am so excited to be able to spend tons of time outside without being cold and for the trees to start blooming. i have been really into stripes lately as you can tell from my previous blog post as well, i don't know what it is i have just been loving them lately. i bought 2 shirts yesterday and yes... they were both stripped. This particular stripped sweater is pink and blue (i wear a lot more blue than i would like to admit) so i decided to pair it with a simple navy A-line skirt.  Since the sweater has a low neckline i layered a white blouse underneath and added a crossover bowtie to add a bit more of a preppy element to it. i didn't want to wear plain navy tights because it is such an obvious choice to to tie in the look together i paired it with some white tights! which i haven't worn in a really long time!

As of now i don't have big plans this weekend other than going to see the junglebook haha, i'm a little too excited about it :) i loved that movie when i was younger.  as some of you may know i took over Oakville place's social media yesterday whilei shopped for a gift for mothers day and had an absolute blast! :) Make sure to follow me on twitter and instagram so you can be up to date :)

Red and Blue Stripes

This is  a rare sight....it is very unusual that i wear jeans and that i wore them outside of my house! when i do wear them they are in the darkest shade possible so that they don't resemble  jeans haha. in my mind i associate jeans with outdoor activities like camping and the look is simply just not for me. Don't get me wrong some people can look amazing and elegant wearing a pair of jeans, models have perfected that look while off duty (ah one can only dream!) we can't all be blessed and i find that i feel uncomfortable with myself while wearing them. But i am not going to lie i actually like how these jeans look with the rest of the outfit, i love combining red and blue i think it looks so pretty and makes me feel like i am on the outside of a Tommy Hilfiger show (i don't know it might be the coat.)

i have been wearing this coat non stop this winter! It was definitely my favourite purchase of the year. the blue colour gives a much more preppy look than black would and i find that it matches with so many different outfits. And how cute do the gold buttons look! As for my bag, you guys know i have been obsessed with backpacks lately, they were never a big draw for me in the past but this year i have been in love with them. Especially this red one! i just think its so cute and makes me feel like a little kid going off to school.
