New Hair For Spring

It's a new season which means a new haircut ! Ok so maybe it's the same haircut ... but its SHORTER I got a similar haircut last spring and I loved it. I really hope it last through the summer because my hair grows so fast. I do feel like this length  suits me and want to maintain it on the shorter side. It really adds to my 1930s and 1940s looks. It instantly makes my outfits look  more authentic, which is key if you are a vintage dresser. I am wearing a 1930s slip I found on ebay and a little lounge/bed jacket from Ian Drummond Vintage.
If you want to hear more about my haircut, and also see two of my newest hats check out my latest youtube video below

Winter Blues Coming To An End

It's officially Spring!  Although I will admit it doesn't feel like it quite yet. Yes, the days of -20 are behind us, but we did wake up with a dusting of snow the other day. I find the weather doesn't fully turn until Mothers day. Ok... sorry I feel like I always start my blog posts talking about the weather... Thank you for reading my weather statement lol

This past Sunday I spent the day in Niagara on the lake, I walked around, bought two pairs of hats (oops) and had lunch. It was my first outdoor outing of the year since its been too cold and snowy this winter to walk around outside. I wore this navy blue 1940s coat that I magically found at a thrift store... its hands down my best thrift find ever! I layered it over a 1940s dark grey suit set, a set that I've worn a million times since I bought it. I kept the accessories pretty minimal with a late 1930s navy blue felt hat, brown shoes and a brown 1940s leather clutch.
Let me know what you guys think of this look in the comments !

Valentines Day 2025

My favourite holiday is here ! Valentines Day! Whats not to love ? It's a day filled with love,  chocolates and flowers. Not to mention everything is heart shaped.... and you know how I feel about heart shaped things. My plans for valentines day include making small finger sandwiches and baking a cake. I've had my eye on a marble cake recipe (this one) for a few days, I've never made it before bit I think I'll give it a try.  As well as eating these delicious caramels while watching a movie. What are you up to this Valentine's Day ?

Side note: I am wearing this gorgeous 1930s blouse from Fashion Conservatory and It is perfect for a romantic day like Valentines day. This blouse was part of my last blog post where I showed you a little haul of pieces from The Fashion Conservatory (link here)

New Vintage Goodies From Fashion Conservatory

[GIFTED] Hi guys!  It's been a while since I did a blog post featuring some new additions to my closet!  I received a big package from Fashion Conservatory and I just HAD to show you! If you don't know, Fashion Conservatory is a website, that sells Curated Vintage items. Things like Women's, Men's, and Kids Clothes, Hats, Purses, Jewellery, and any other accessory you can think of. And if that wasn't exciting enough! they also have a section on their website for information. Fashion Conservatory has the largest Label Archive that has information on Brands, Labels and Designers. It's an incredible resource if you are into fashion, especially vintage fashion like I am ! I use this all the time when researching different labels that I see when vintage shopping.  Their whole goal is to bring a community together of people who love vintage and fashion history. So if that sounds like something that would interest you definitely check out Fashion Conservatory here!

Now on to the amazing pieces I got from them...

1940s Green And White Peplum Dress
This dress is beautiful !!!  Its a bright shade of green with a white letter/stamp print.  It has such such a feminine shape with the fitted waist and the peplum. What I love about the peplum is that it has a V shape at the back which is such a unique feature that I love seeing on dresses. I can't pin point why but I think it looks so cute!  The collar is a V shape and has small pleats that add some texture and detail to the dress. I can't wait for summer so I can wear it around town!

1930s Cream Short Sleeve Blouse
How sweet is this little blouse !!  You know those street life clips from different decades? This one looks like it jumped out of one of those scenes....I mean technically it could've since its from the 1930s, but you know what I mean lol. The blouse is in a stunning cream colour, its semi sheer and has intricate embroidery (Broderie Anglaise). It has a slightly large collar, and puff sleeves which adds to the femininity of the top.  It's incredibly flattering and fits me PERFECTLY, I was actually shocked when I put it on!

1930s Knit Blue Dress
This dress is perfect for every day!  It's easy to wear and will instantly look put together with little effort. It fits beautifully and has that nice 1930s knit that hugs in all the right paces. The neckline and sleeves have cream embellishments that really make the dress stand out. This is going to be perfect for the spring/summer due to its versatility

1930s Satin Blouse
I already know this is going to be a staple in my wardrobe !  This cream satin blouse is perfect for every outfit. Its in a beautiful satin fabric and has small little tucks, creating a detailed stripe pattern going down the shirt and collar. The blouse opens and closes with these large plastic buttons with loops along the front of the blouse. Again this blouse looks like it jumped out of a street scene from the 1930s. I love tops like this because its a more detailed version of a classic button up shirt. In modern times our basic button down is plain white/cream but I love tops that have a slight detail to them like this because it makes the outfit way more interesting. And since its all once colour it still reads as a basic.

1940s Peach Ruffle Dress
Last but not least we have this stunning peach coloured dress from the 1940s ! It's in Pantones colour of the year (Peach Fuzz) and yes I know the year is basically over but better late than never lol. This is a longer dress perfect for an occasion like a horse race or polo match. It has large ruffles along the collar and sleeves, as well as on the drop wait section. You guys know I love feminine pieces and this is a perfect example of that ! I don't own anything like this so I'm excited to wear it once the weather gets warmer !

If you want to see me try all of these pieces on make sure to check out my closet declutter/swap video because I try all of these pieces on ! You can find the video below

Somewhere In My "Memery"

[GIFTED] The perfect 1930s inspired shoes!  Ah I have been eyeing these leather Oxfords from memery for a while. They are perfect for every day because they have a 5cm heel, meaning they are going to give you a bit of lift, but will be comfortable and stable. Perfect for walking around all day. They also look beautiful, with the hand cut pattern surrounding the cotton laces. The colour is also beautiful and will  match basically everything, I honestly see this brown shade a basic. These shoes are amazing for any vintage lover because it will help your outfits look more authentic. If you are interested in getting your own pair of the Emma shoe from memery click here!

I wore these shoes with my dark grey 1940s suit set. But it was a bit cooler this day so I layered my blue 1940s coat that I got at the Toronto Vintage Clothing Show. It was my first time wearing it but I already know this coat is going to be a staple in my closet, it fits me beautifully but has enough room to layer over thicker pieces this like wool suit set. For accessories I grabbed by 1940s blue hat and navy cord bag. It was the perfect outfit for a November day. Let me know what you think of this look in the comments below, and also tell me if you have a favourite shoe from memery!
