In Between Vogue

Fashion month is upon us...well actually New York Fashion week has come and gone haha. I've been keeping up with the collections on the Vogue Runway app and through different content creators who are attending.  Since I was in high school I have dreamed of going to fashion week. I love the idea of a month filled with fashion and running around from place to place, taking outfit photos in between shows and giving my thoughts on the collections. And as much as I LOVE vintage, sometimes I want to share my love for high fashion or my thoughts on the clothing even if its not my particular style. I feel like there is a completely different side of me that I don't get a chance to share because my audience is made up of people who love vintage. Which is amazing! and I love all of you! But sometimes its a bit confining in the content I can make and it limits my creativity.  I feel like if I slightly step away from vintage its an attack on my identity... does that make sense?  Fashion is so personal and for me its so engrained in who I am as a person, that if I try something new if feels like a crisis. I know it sounds crazy but I hope someone can relate or understand what I'm trying to say. 

With the new season approaching I want to experiment a bit more in the content I share and see where it goes. I'm still sticking to vintage OBVIOUSLY but I want to add in a few things here and there. I don't really have a plan, It's just something that kept me up all night last night and I want to explore it. My content feels a bit stagnant and I wanted to try something new and see where it leads. The good thing about this blog is that its the place where I have the smallest audience (HI if you always read my posts! I love you) so I can be more experimental here and see what works and what doesn't.  I just want to have fun and create. 

But anyway here is a bit about the outfit I'm wearing: The grey wool skirt is thrifted (no label sorry!) and it fits me beautifully! My bow blouse is Juicy Couture and its so feminine and dainty. I love rounded collars I find them so flattering. It was a bit chilly so I added this light green blazer from Theory. As I was about to leave for the day I saw this half hat on my shelf that I got from Ian Drummond Vintage and it matched the blazer Perfectly! Love it when things like that happen haha. I wore black heels and a black hand bag. and I finished the look off with a vintage muted silver locket brooch on the lapel of the blazer. I don't normally wear silver I'm more of a gold girl, but in this case the muted silver worked and my handbag also has silver hardware so it just made sense. Dusty Rose

I wanted to take this dress out for a spin before the weather got too cold. This 1940s dusty rose dress is a new addition to my closet. I got it from Mama Loves you Vintage, one of my favourite vintage stores in the city. I love the decal details along the collar and the skirt. The length is also perfect !  It reminds me of something Allie would wear in the notebook. I paired the dress with a cream clutch that has small flower details on the clasp. As for shoes I wore these cream wedges and ok I know wedges aren't exactly "in" right now but I have been wearing these non stop this summer !  They are so comfortable and match all of my outfits. I've never been into wedges but Allie wears them a couple of times in the notebook and I wanted to give them a shot. Ok sorry for mentioning the notebook twice in this post, its truly a coincidence haha. I finished the look off with a flower clip in my hair and a WWII locket. 

LE SELECT BISTRO 

I went to Le Select Bistro for lunch and had the Croque Madame (with Fries). and it was delicious as always !  its my go-to every time I go. However this time I was torn between that and the gnocci because it was Monday (its the dish of the day on Mondays) but I really wanted fries so alas, I got the Croque Madame.  Le Select Bistro it on wellington st near Spadina. 

I love that the restaurant has posters of old Hollywood movies, the whole interior is exquisite. It would actually be the perfect backdrop for a movie where drinks are had and secrets shared. If you ever find yourself in the city looking for a place to eat definitely check out Le Select Bistro. And with that that wraps up this post. Erchless Estate - The Founding Family

This weekend I visited Erchless Estate in my hometown. You guys have seen it in the background of my photos a million times so thats probably why it looks so familiar from the outside. I've never been inside and since it was the long weekend and I was looking for something to do I figured I would check it out ! 

Erchless Estate was home to Colonel William Chisholm, The founder of Oakville, Ontario. I love historical home museums I think they are so fun to walk through, like you travelled in a time machine. I always get home decor (and fashion)  inspiration from these types of museums and end up wanting to go vintage shopping. 

As for my outfit.... it was suppose to be a really hot day but the weather prediction was wrong (quelle surprise) and it was cold and windy. I was inside so I wasn't cold but I ran to the car lol. I am wearing this beautiful 1920s inspired dress from La Vie Delight.  they make such beautiful nice quality dresses! I love this particular silhouette its so flattering and they make it in a bunch of different colours. This is the pattern I am wearing (link here). For shoes I am wearing these cream coloured heels that I got on my most recent trip to Seville. I also wore a vintage pearl necklace and a ring that perfectly matched the colours on the dress. Oh and a 1920s crochet handbag ! That I got it at the Toronto vintage clothing show. What do you guys think of this 1920s inspired look?
