Bring Me Back

Hello !  Happy Friday!  its crazy to think that its already the middle of march and that spring start net week. With the new season comes new fashion trends that I can't wait to try once it starts to get a little bit warmer. I feel like over the past few months I've bee trying to experiment with some different things and looking into different styles. I mean.... I posted two posts this month where I was wearing denim thats pretty shocking in itself.... what's even more shocking is that I bought a demin jacket the other day. Something I've been trying trying is wearing trendy pieces but wearing them in a way that it still looks like my style. I have never been one to obsess over trends, I follow them as any fashion lover does but I only wear the ones I truly like and can incorporate nicely into my style. But as fun as trying new trends is, it is always nice to go back to your roots. I've been watching testament of youth  on repeat over the last few day, it is a great movie based on the first world war memoir of Vera Brittain. Not only is her story captivating but the movie itself is amazing, The wardrobe is stunning and it really brought me back to my love of vintage inspired fashion.  I have always said that I wish I was born a 100 years earlier. But as much as I love that style of clothing I want to be realistic and wear them in a way that it doesn't look like a costume but rather just inspired from a different time period and make it more wearable for todays time.

This outfit that I am wearing is a nod at that concept. I've had this coat in my closet since the spring of last year, I found it at a consignment store and it as honestly such amazing find!  I love the tail at the back, it is so feminine and it looks as tho it's from a  different time era. I layered this coat over a simple black pleated skirt from forever 21  and a White Ruffled blouse as well from Forever 21. For a little bit of interest I tried a bow around my neck and this scarf is from Balmain.   Since it is technically still winter and the weather is still a bit chilly I wore some Nude tights and black heels and topped it off with a white beret. I hope you guys like this look and have a wonderful weekend ahead ! 

25 Random Facts about me

With the sudden snowstorms we got over the past couple of days...I have stayed inside as much as possible, which lead me to think... I've never done a get to know me post or talked much about my personal life. So I thought that i would share 25  random facts about me ! so grab a coffee (or tea) and lets get to know each other:

1. I was born in Lima, Peru. I moved to Canada when I was about 8 years old and have lived in Toronto ever since.
2. My favourite animal is the Orca (killer whale) I don't know why I just really love them.
3. My favourite colour is pink ! although my favourite colour to wear is red.
4. I have a bachelors degree in photography.
5. I cant sleep with pants on.. or socks.
6.  Ever since I can remember I have always wanted an identical twin sister.
7. I could live off coffee and sesame seed bagels
8. I am the truest Gemini, every time I do research on Geminis' I feel like I am reading about myself
9. Horror is my favourite movie genre
10. I have a serious shopping problem, I cant fit anything in my closet but I continue to buy more clothes/shoes...help
11. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle is my signature scent
12. If I could live anywhere in the world it would be NYC
13. I am 5'5 but I wish I was taller like 5'7-5'9
14. I am terrible at math ! My brain doesn't work in that way, I am definitely  more visual, I always excelled in art/media courses
15. I don't like juice or pop, the only thing I drink is water (no ice) and coffee
16. I was never on any sport team nor had any interest in sports. I am not athletic by any means haha
17. My favourite movie is Funny Face, if you haven't seen it please do yourself a favour and watch it.
18. I have a boyfriend, we've been together for almost 6 years.
19.  I speak english and spanish fluently, I can understand  french if spoken slowly (lol) I can read it tho !
20. if i get to pick what place to eat, it will probably be a Chinese restaurant.
21. I don't like nail polish, I don't have the patience for it, as well as I am 23 and still bite my nails (its a horrid habit I know)
22. I wish I did Ballet growing up, My mom took me to one class when I was really young and said I didn't like it so we never went back (thanks mom) but I am extremely awkward so something tells me I would've been bad at it
23. The sound of chewing literally make me cringe, like my neck scrunches, I cant stand it.
24. Fall is my favourite season (sorry that is super pedestrian I know)
25. I  want to visit Paris so badly

Star-gazing

I can't believe I'm posting two outfits in one month featuring jeans, what is happening to me? I don't know what it is but i've been really drawn to statement jeans lately, either with embroidery or with a fun pattern like this pair.  You would've seen that in my February haul video, if you haven't seen it click here. I've been looking for clothes that have a star print on them, like sweaters and shirts but I stumbled upon this pair of jeans at winners in the sale section for $8 ! Yes I couldn't believe it either ! they were practically giving them away. I thought they were so fun and unique and I was thrilled when I saw that they had my size. I paired them with this light grey salt and pepper sweater which is soo incredible comfy and warm! To my surprise I didn't tuck in the sweater... I realized going through my instagram yesterday that I ALWAYS tuck in my shirt/sweater..... I'm not really sure why... I just think it looks better on me.... anyone else do this ?? Seeing as it is still winter for about one more week I needed to bundle up (this weekend was so cold!)  I wore this long - slightly oversized- black coat with gold buttons. To finish the look off I wore my black cabby hat which you guys have seen about 100 times this season and put my hair in braids, I feel like that has been my go-to look when I wear a simple outfit. How do you feel about statement jeans? 

My Beret Collection

If you've been following me for a while, wether it be on my blog, instagram or youtube you would know that I have a serious obsession with berets.  i've tried to collect plain ones in every colour and the occasional printed or embellished ones. Which has resulted in this collection video. There are so many that I still want to get and add to my collection, I really want to find more that have  embellishments and embroidery on them I think that would really add some interest to an outfit. Berets are a great way to dress up or down an outfit and they go with just about anything, they can compliment the look or be used as a statement piece to add some colour. Floral Embroidered jeans

As you guys know I am not much of a denim person, you can probably count on one hand the amount of posts featuring jeans. I don't know what it is but lately I've been really into them! Especially High waisted embroidered ones!  This particular pair of jeans is from Shein  they are the Dark blue flower embroidered straight leg jeans and once I saw them on the website I couldn't say no ! The embroidery is so beautiful and the fit is fantastic ! I've been looking for a really high waisted pair of jeans and I am so glad that I found these ones, I just know i'll be wearing them on repeat all spring. I paired it with a simple ribbed black mock neck top and a maroon beret to match the embroidered flowers. I belted the pants with this black belt that actually belonged to my mom when she was around my age, its so cute I feel like it matches the style of pant perfectly! As for my bag, I grabbed one of the newest additions to my closet and it is this small dual zippered micro backpack from Spring, I am seriously so obsessed and I can't stop wearing it ! Micro backpack are definitely a trend i will be carrying forward in the spring and summer. What are your favourite trends at the moment?
