Trapped in a girly box

As i pulled out this dress from my closet my mind instantly went to liesl Von Trapp, the iconic scene in the sound of mucic where she sings "sixteen going on seventeen" literally i play that song on repeat on all the time haha. Although it's not the same dress nor the same shade it has that same ruffle-y/feminine feel to it, and you know i am all about feminine looks.  i find that the summertime is the best time to experiment with girly pieces because there are pastels and florals you can wear that aren't as suitable for the fall/winter. But i'm not going to lie with all the pre-fall pieces coming into stores i have have gravitating towards edgier pieces that i normally wouldn't approach, i've even bought denim skirts!  i feel a change is to come into my wardrobe... now don't worry i wont stray too far from my girlyness/preppyness because then i wouldn't be me. But at the same time i feel like i have trapped myself in a "pink" box and don't allow myself to buy certain clothes because they aren't as girly or necessarily "my style." i have come to the realization that i CAN buy those pieces and pair them with other clothes to make them my own, there really are no rules except for the imaginary ones i am setting for myself... So i have told myself it is ok to experiment a bit more and not to always play it safe especially with the fall coming up, it's a time of change and i definitely feel inspired.  Let me know what your favourite trends for the up and coming fall ! :)
