Good Friday: Getting ready for Easter

Its Good Friday today and I'm getting ready for Easter! Easter is like the unofficial start of Spring, it's when flowers start to bloom and  pastel colours are everywhere. I usually take it easy on Easter weekend and it all leads up to my family having a big brunch on Easter Sunday. I also eat tons of chocolate all weekend long and do some baking! I wanted to share what I was up to today!

I don't usually decorate my room for Easter but I saw these glass eggs and I couldn't resist. They are hand made and came in a few different colours... I regret not getting the purple and the yellow one haha. However these are equally as beautiful. The colours are pink, light blue, green and amber, They are so pretty and they all have their own unique design. I think they look so elegant and classic, like they belong in a castle or something! They also have a vintage quality to them,  like a family Heirloom. Does that even make sense?  I can see myself using these every Easter for the rest of my life. I put them under my window where my egg trinket box collection usually is, I guess I swapped my usual eggs for easter eggs lol.

To start off the day I made some fresh scones for breakfast. I love a scones but I don't usually eat them unless its a special occasion. truthfully I could make them any other day of the year but I find that only making them on holidays makes them more special. I eat my scone while its still warm with butter. I know a lot of people eat scones with jam and I've tried SO many times, but I really don't like jam or marmalade. I wish I liked it!  But my brain can't wrap around the bread and fruit combination. I don't even like cake with fruit in it for this reason. I feel like it just doesn't go? lol Someone please tell me I'm not alone in this?

After a slow breakfast I made a carrot cake, because is it really Easter without carrot cake! Rabbits... carrots... it just fits lol!  Carrot cake is one of my favourites its so soft and fluffy and can be eaten on its own or with frosting. I like mine with a bit of buttercream frosting so I made some to decorate the rim of the cake. For a bit of colour I added 4 Cadbury mini eggs on the top. I get a 1kg bag of mini eggs every easter so I've been eating away at mine for the past couple of weeks and I'm not even half way done.

Then I put together my outfit for Easter Sunday, I wanted to have it ready so I don't have to worry about it and I can have it steamed and ready to go for brunch.  I'm wearing the same dress I wore for Christmas eve but with completely different accessories.  This is one of my favourite dresses in my closet, and yes I know I say that a lot but this one has an Edwardian feel to it. Surprisingly it's not vintage, it's actually modern. I got it at Winners last year for about $30 and its an absolute dream!  However this is all I'm sharing for my outfit, you guys are going to love the accessories I'm pairing it with.... including a new Easter Bonnet!

That is pretty much all of the prep I've done for Easter today! I'm currently watching Jesus of Nazareth as I write this blog post. Which I only watch for tradition...I'm not a religious person in any way but its  a movie that alway plays on Easter weekend. If you've seen it before you'll know its long and slow paced but its filmed really nicely and its a classic. I usually watch Jesus of Nazareth on Good Friday and Easter Parade on Easter Sunday.  (Sad Movie on Friday and happy movie on Sunday) and thats as religious as I get lol.  There will be another Easter post on Sunday where I show you my outfit  so be on the lookout for that! I know this post seems really random but I really want to use my blog as a way to connect with you, I want to share small snippets of my life with you and tell you about my day so you'll probably see more content like this. Let me know what you think of this type of content!
